Get more candidates enquiring

Quick wins and top tips to attract more candidates

Written by Em Powell

The best care workers come recommended! Every enquiry through Care Friends comes with a personal recommendation from someone who knows the job.

⭐ Start here: give your listings a quick tidy-up

If you only do one thing, check your live listings for these three quick fixes:

  • Remove any phone numbers, emails or website addresses. When candidates contact you directly instead of tapping I’m interested, they don’t come through your Care Friends portal. That means you can’t track or manage them there, and the team member who referred them won’t get their points. Staff who don’t get rewarded for a referral are much less likely to refer again!

  • Make your headline a question, for example “Are you a caring person looking for a rewarding role with flexible hours?”

  • End with a clear call to action, such as “tap the I’m interested button at the bottom of the screen”.

Top tip: set a reminder to refresh your listings every 3 months so they always feel fresh.

⏱ About 5 minutes per listing

How many of these are you already doing?

Count how many you’ve got in place, then pick one gap to work on next.

Quick wins

Use a photo of your team as the feature image, or link an existing “day in the life” video, to help candidates picture themselves working with you!

⏱ About 2 minutes per listing

Remind staff they can share listings with their wider network and local community groups.

⏱ One notification or team message

Bigger boosts

Copied job board ads don’t work for referrals. Write friendly, values-led listings for people who aren’t actively job hunting.

⏱ About 10 minutes per listing

Award a bonus points prize to whoever refers the most eligible candidates in a set period.

⏱ About 30 minutes to plan and promote

Got more than one site? Use the sites tab to spot what’s working and copy it across locations.

⏱ About 20 minutes

💡 Reward the referrals that count! Check your points tariff. You can award the enquiry point once your team has contacted a candidate and confirmed they’re eligible, rather than as soon as they enquire. Update your points tariff

📈 Watch your numbers grow

Pick one to do this week, then keep an eye on the New enquiries over time graph on your dashboard. The graph shows results by month, so you’ll start to see the difference over the coming months. If things level off, come back here and pick your next item.
